Dwight L. Bush Sr. served as U.S. ambassador to Morocco from 2014 to 2017 after a career in banking, corporate finance and financial advisory work. He is president and chief executive officer of D.L. Bush & Associates, a Washington-based financial advisory and private investment firm. His earlier positions included managing director at Chase Manhattan Bank, vice president of corporate development at Sallie Mae and leadership of Urban Trust Bank.

Bush graduated from Cornell University in 1979, having studied government and economics, and worked as a resident adviser while at the university. At a Cornell event in 2016, he traced his later work back to the university: the scholars he learned from, and the residence hall job that taught him how to work with people.

He began his banking career at Chase Manhattan in 1979. Over about fifteen years, his assignments included international corporate banking in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, as well as project and corporate finance in New York and Washington. After leaving Chase as a managing director, he joined SLM Corporation, commonly known as Sallie Mae, as vice president of corporate development. In 1997, he joined Stuart Mill Capital, where his responsibilities included serving as chief financial officer of its portfolio company SatoTravel.

Bush later established D.L. Bush & Associates and served as chief executive of Urban Trust Bank and affiliated businesses. He has served on the boards of Cornell, Gavi and the National Symphony Orchestra, and is Meridian International Center's Global Engagement chair.

Following his return from Morocco, Bush resumed leadership of his advisory firm in 2017. He served on Santander Bank's board from 2018 to 2019 and on MoneyLion's board from 2021 to 2025. In April 2026, he became a trustee of Innovator ETFs Trust, where he oversees the trust's investment funds.
