Quintin E. Primo III, born March 14, 1955, built his career in institutional real estate. After Harvard Business School, he worked at Citibank for about eight years, a stretch he later described as a period when his learning curve had flattened. In 1988, he opened his own investment banking business, and in 1992 he co-founded Capri Capital Partners.
The Chicago firm took shape in a constrained market. Capri's own history describes its 1992 founding as a structured capital provider to a commercial real estate market that was severely constrained at the time, and reference works describe the firm as one of the largest minority-owned real estate investment companies, working in property equity, debt and structured finance. A 2015 restructuring report recorded more than $9.1 billion in commercial real estate investments acquired or originated since the firm's founding. He studied at Indiana University and Harvard Business School.
His public profile has included marquee projects. An Urban Land Institute profile described him as the strategist behind bringing Google's Midwest headquarters to Chicago, work that grew out of decades of relationships in the city's real estate and civic circles.
Art has been a sustained interest alongside real estate. In a School of the Art Institute of Chicago profile, Primo described learning about the Chicago Imagists as a student and later collecting work that prompted reflection. He joined the school's Board of Governors and co-chaired its Beautiful/Work fundraising campaign alongside Holly Hunt, making a leadership gift supporting students and faculty.
His civic service has included boards connected to Chicago civic and cultural life, among them the Chicago Community Trust and the Chicago Sinfonietta, along with service connected to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
