Ronald E. Blaylock co-founded the investment bank Blaylock & Company in 1993, building a minority-owned firm in New York City that consistently ranked among Black Enterprise's leading Black-owned investment banks. He had prepared for it with a Georgetown University degree earned in 1982 and in senior positions at UBS, PaineWebber and Citicorp.
The firm's lineage has outlasted many of its era's peers. Blaylock & Company later combined with Robert Van Securities to form Blaylock Van LLC, which describes itself as the oldest continuously operating African American-owned banking firm in the United States. Inc. has called it the most enduring African American-owned investment banking institution on Wall Street.
In 2006, he co-founded GenNx360 Capital Partners, moving into private equity. GenNx360, which he leads as co-founder and managing partner, focuses on industrial and business services companies in the U.S. middle market, and he shares founding credit with the colleagues who helped establish the firm.
In 2026, his firm announced his inclusion in the ForbesBLK 50, a list recognizing Black Americans working in private capital. The recognition placed the two-firm career, investment banking and private equity, in a single frame.
His experience has also extended to corporate and nonprofit boards. Pfizer's biography records his past directorships at CarMax and Urban One, alongside service with Carnegie Hall, New York University's Stern School of Business and the Mental Health Coalition.
